I had a dream last night that Willie Nelson, was sitting in for Bob Weir with the Grateful Dead . He started on one of Bob's songs ( can't remember which) and restarted it imitating Weir , to much laughter from the band , and audience . He even cracked up . I would like to have seen this show in the real world !

Holy crap, I KNEW I recognized him from somewhere.

It's the naked pole dude from Veneta '72.

Easy folks, it's his eyes.

On the pole again
I just can’t wait to get on the pole again
The life I love is dancing naked in the sun
And I can’t wait to on the pole again

On the pole again
Showing parts that some have never seen
Scarin’ children with stuff not very clean
And I can’t wait to get on the pole again

On the pole again
Like a bag of marbles they’re jiggling while the boys play
They’re two of a kind
Insisting they flop and bounce to the songs in their way
And their way

Is on the pole again
Just can’t wait to get on the pole again
The life I love is dancing naked in the sun
And I can’t wait to get on the pole again

On the pole again

rdinerojb87, eh? Nice name. I wonder how you came up with that. But seriously, why don't you stop being a huge pussy, and post with your real user name?

How gutless can you be, to not even have the balls to post with your real user name? The ultimate form of internet cowardice.

Rise above, young deniro.

The weak and ineffectual stings of minor irritants such as this are easily ignored. You soon find that left to their own devices they will obliging do all the work of proving how shallow and inconsequential they are.

Anyway, you can take satisfaction from the fact that you're only being targeted out of envy for your position as a well regarded and liked member of the community, something your inept imitator will never be.

Always good to check in to Desolation Row and see the paranoid loonies, vitriolic haters, time wasters, and other assorted riff raff keeping the flame alive. I mean, who fucking cares? These guys simply look pathetic. Who cares if this poster is a troll or that one is a fraud? Kind of reminds me of the attendees at Grateful Dead concerts.

Hope all is well across the pond with you and she who must be obeyed.

There have certainly been instances where some would be smartass has created multiple names in order to conduct phony conversations with himself. I wouldn't go so far as to say that anyone goaded into a reply, or who thinks they can put one over on the miscreant (yes, guilty, yer honor), immediately deserves to be labelled a troll themselves. But I do agree that responses only bring fuel to the fire.

I specifically intended my comments for those who believe they might smoke-out a troll and reveal his/her true identity, or those who think they can reform the troll and those who respond with the "i feel sorry for you" rap...etc.

Obviously not you Rob. Everybody knows you are much more creative.;)

Hey Mr. DeNiro, sorry if my misplaced post of 26th August started up this shit again for you. I was out of order, for which I apologise again.

Just for the craic, here are 'those shorts' in action again. They certainly do get around:

No apologies necessary Jackie.

Wow, those shorts look even worse than they do on Bob. I wasn't around at the time, so it's extra difficult for me to imagine that style of shorts ever being considered fashionable. I guess nobody ever told Bob they went out of style, and if he didn't get too pudgy around the midsection, I suspect he would still wear them today. I recall him stating in an interview a few years ago that he doesn't wear his old shorts because they don't fit anymore.

Getting by, Jackie, just getting by. I don't know what things are like in your line of work but it's been pretty bloody dodgy in mine recently. I somehow seem to keep finding one more lifeline to grab on to before I go under, but really all I want to do is get out of this fucking cold water and go lie on the beach. Not going to happen though. Just endless flailing about until the water finally closes over my head.

Wow. I'm Mr Cheery tonight, eh?

When I feel that way, I break out Workingmans Dead (Worksop indeed!), some JGB or even some Elliott Smith.

It usually helps.
Funny how troubled souls like Jerry or Elliott could have the effect of making people feel much happier about things.

I know what you mean, but of course, any "no nonsense" requirement would eliminate 96% of my posts, eh?

To be honest, though, I actually think that it's become relatively easy to avoid the nonsense/nasty ones, and the only real issue is the "uh oh, we just reamed a newbie by mistake!" (which, of course, I think most of them learn VERY quickly...or know what to expect by having read a month or two worth of posts, ya know?). Just think of how newibes like ARose have settled in nicely after only 2-3 yrs...

It helps to have no idea what is going on, most of the time. I thought at first I'd figure things out, but I'm still mostly clueless and also realize it's better that way. I'm still constantly amazed at the fights that break out, but figure I usually don't know the backstory. Though how anyone keeps track of backstories here I don't know, with the names constantly changing. I do think it would be nice if people weren't QUITE so quick to beat newcomers bloody at the tiniest provocation.

I think I've got a fairly good idea of what goes on and how the various protagonists fit into my ever shifting Venn diagram of forumite foibles. There are some who you might give a cautious nod to in the street, others who you'd go out of your way to avoid. But what's really heartening when you stop to think about it is just how long a list you can make of people you can imagine sitting down with for a coffee and a chat. It's the undercurrent of decency and tolerance that brings me back when I think the lunatics have finally taken over and I should give up on the place.

Yup; I was really tapering off the last few weeks posting wise and suddenly, bam: with a little extra time, and sudden wealth of old friend posters, there was a great deal of pleasant activity for which, in a very small way, I was very happy to be a part of, and have no sense whatsoever of the doom and gloom that used to overtake the place and my view of it somewhat regularly.

Of course, I have embraced my role as Polly Anna, with skirt chasing tendencies as a minor flaw...

Well Tell, I think it's high time you got over this Cream nonsense, those guys suck! C'mon this is a GD forum! ;)

In all seriousness though, I genuinely enjoy the banter of you and many fine folks here. It is something that I did partake in at times myself. The nonsense I'm talking about comes from a select few who shall remain nameless.

And no offense to anyone, I know it's summer and people are out and about, but quite frankly I haven't found many discussions here worthwhile in quite some time. But that's just me.
